Restocking

Freshwater fish stocking in Queensland is the process of releasing young fish (fingerlings) into dams, rivers and weirs to enhance and maintain fisheries

Reliable Supplier of Quality Fingerlings

Hanwood Fish Hatchery was established in 1987 and has built a reputation as a reliable supply of quality fingerlings to Fish Stocking Associations and fishing clubs for restocking of the fresh water impoundments, rivers and weirs in Queensland. We supply quality Murray Darling and Fitzroy Dawson strains of Golden Perch, Silver Perch, Australian Bass, Murray God and Mary River Cod.

We offer reliable delivery with competitive prices by bulk transporter or can be boxed if required. Fingerlings are delivered at 40-50mm from December – March.

Quality Providers of Healthy Fingerlings

Over the last 25 years we have established fish handling procedures which guarantee fish production and transporting which then guarantees you receive parasite and disease free healthy fish.

We are active participants of the Aquaculture Association of Queensland Quality Assurance program that ensures the fish you receive have been handled correctly according to all regulations.

Stocked Impoundment Permit Scheme (SIPS)

The SIPS scheme was introduced in July 2000 which gave the quality of the freshwater fishing areas to the recreational anglers a real boost. The scheme is overseen by Queensland Government Fisheries department which distributes the money from permits purchased to fish impoundments [dams] and weirs to the state stocking groups to purchase fish fingerlings to stock the water in the area they have a permit for.

We have established many Stock Impoundment Permit Scheme (SIPS) customers by being a reliable supplier of quality fingerlings since the commencement of the program and are always striving to achieve best practices with fish counts and quality of fish.
